Is it unbearable enough yet?

My very first blog entry title was "I want to leave a legacy of Despair." Of course I was quoting Dr. Evil but great minds think alike and I couldn't have said it better myself. Actually I could have but I don't paid as much as Mike Myers so plagiarism seemed reasonable. But I think that until the Republicans leave their legacy of despair people won't vote them out of power.

The voting against your own interests, ala "What's the Matter with Kansas," idea is quite old. How many slave owners in the Confederacy actually served on the front lines? You think the human fodder mowed down at Gettysburg, Shiloh and Antietam left the comforts of Tara (no, not Reid) to protect their way of life? As Moe said pointing to Curly, "I'll fight to last drop of his blood!" Sounds like W huh?

So we have Wal-Mart greeters fighting to repeal the estate tax which contrary to smirkly lies of the right-wing does not tax death anymore than any other tax taxes life, is around 20 and not 50% and affects around only 20,000 estates a year only 500 of which are over $5,000,000. Keep voting for Republicans who favor the perpetual free lunch, borrow money from the Chinese forever to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy form of government because they won't be around when it all goes bad. The third generation Wal-Mart greeter will be wondering why there isn't federal money for college loans and may figure out, "oh yeah, we gave all that money to the top 1% of the country by cutting their taxes over and over and over and now I have to pay that bill."

Now we have the victims of Katrina and Rita who are going to see first hand the results of the new bankruptcy bill going into affect on October 17. There are so many "kick you in the teeth when you are down" provisions to go over that I don't have space here. Today's New York Times has a small review and it doesn't even explain all the bad details and sections. Click through some of these postings from the brilliant Prof. Elizabeth Warren here, here and especially here and see how bad and unfair it will be. Oh, but don't worry, with asset protection trusts the wealthy have their escape hatch from bankruptcy. I'm not really saying I told you so to Katrina victims but what did you expect from Republicans like Louisiana's own Sen. David Vitter?

The pain, suffering and outright unfairness of the bankruptcy bill as applied to these hurricane victims will be huge. But all you Republicans out there surfing the net saying "too bad," I hope you get a taste of your own medicine one day. For all you victims of Katrina and Rita who voted Republican, your medicine is coming now.

My new political philosophy is to hope it gets so bad people can't deny who made it bad. Then, hopefully, people will be so angry with the way things are run they will vote for anyone else. Poison the waters, cut the trees, pave the forests, close the CDC and NEA, overturn Roe v. Wade, give the rich a 0% tax rate, ban free speech, get rid of campaign financing laws, invade every country, privatize social security, end Medicare, have religious tests for government service, teach creationism, subsidize oil and tobacco, have mandatory minimum sentences for jaywalking, do it all. Just do it quickly so we can put you in the dustbin of history and get past the legacy of despair as soon as possible.

P.S. Today's post is slighly late over weighing the grammatical differences between "affect" and "effect." Thoughts from my literate readers?

The substitution of the stale metaphor "impact" for both affect and effect is a malignant tumor in the lungs of the English language.

What then do we make of the recrudescence of the MMMoron BBBetz and his red herring du jour? As if we could blame the screwing of America on Johnson's attempt to reduce poverty. These PPPeople have a cynical non-sequitur for any occasion, but what happened to the Wal Mart greeter is Wal Mart and the export of jobs and the export of dollars and the return of feudalism.

Lenny Bruce the comedian who fought for free speech would be proud of you today. Today the lava within our crakyboy has reached a new all time high temperature. Mount Crankboy erupts and we all have to have the hot lead enema of having our private property seized via higher taxes even in death. It is apparent that Republicans can spend our hard earned tax dollars as easily as Democrats. That being the case why not lower all federal and state taxes so they have less to plunder.(pirate reference). I think I know how to spend my money better than the feds. But if you insist on a hot lead enema for all, I'd like you to try it out and let me know how it feels. Wal Mart greeters of the world are smarter than politicians and not cranky. Hardy har hardy har har..........matey.

Yes, I'm sure you and your neighbors will build roads, fund a fire department and 911 call center, employ air traffic controllers unless you don't fly of course then no FAA, make sure remote area get mail service or electricity. For that matter why not have zero taxes? Since government can't spend revenues better than you they should have none. In short you're a typical moron. Cheers.

P.S. You'r also supporting anti-Americanism as your spend like there is no tomorrow Repubs are borrowing $$$$$$ from China, Korea, Saudi Arabia and every other "ferner" you probably hate. Nice going.

yes bbbetz I'm sure you got through life without a single piece of help from the government. Zero, nothing, nada. Not education, or governemnt backed college loans, or protection of your assests in banks or trading accoutns through SIPC, FSLC etc. blah blah blah, blame Clinton, (who raised taxes in 1993 and then had 8 years of expansion without a single Republican house member voting for it. They claimed it would lead to a new depression.) blame LBJ, blame FDR. You got yours and those Wal-Mart greeters should have been smarter - they should have been born in a nice suburb and taken Stanley Kaplan courses. Maybe in the next life huh? Go W - expnading entitlements faster and greater than any other president in history.

Dear Crankshaft,

In your utopian world everyone will be equal. We'll all pay the same taxes, earn the same income, have the government pay for all of our needs from cradle to grave. No one will be able to take advantage of any one else just like the playground in elementary school. Open your eyes and realize that our government is a giant land grab one long dash for the cash. It doesn't matter who is in power.Whats that old adage about "absolute power."I think most of your motivations are because you are unable to grasp this basic fact of life.Take off the rose colored glasses and slap some cold water on your face and accept the fact that you are alone, an individual with talents that are being wasted on trying to right our corrupt political system. You called me a moron. After recess I'm going to tell the teacher on you.

Sounds more like the flat tax I'm sure you love with its convenient depreciation rules so corporations won't ever pay taxes again.

"earn the same income,"

earn? Like Ken Lay and Joe Allbaugh and Michael Ovtizt "earn" theirs. And then after raping the public they pay less marginal rates than everyone else.

"have the government pay for all of our needs from cradle to grave."

Like I said, you must home school, build your own roads and deliver your own mail.

No one will be able to take advantage of any one else just like the playground in elementary school."

Yes, I could see how a verbal bully like you would argue in favor of stealing the public's lunch money.

"It doesn't matter who is in power."

Creationism and evolution, science and faith, Roe v. Wade and Operation Rescue, yeah, it's just the same thing.

"You called me a moron."

Stupid is as stupid does.
