Field trip for the Curmudgeon - Can I borrow some body armor?

I'm a news junkie and I've seen and read and heard (Israeli internet based radio) everything that's going on in the Middle East. (And I'm not talking about Jersey.) I've sat on my couch long enough so I'm going on a field trip to Israel and Beirut to see what's going on.

He's not serious you say? Guess again. I want to see up close the armed gang of murderers who dragged the region into war and basically are ruining the world. And for you brain-dead Israeli haters out there, I'm talking about Hamas and Hezbollah. Imagine the Minute Men wannabe soldiers sitting in their lawn chairs in Arizona with their binoculars, Oakleys, Nextel push-to-talk walkie-talkies and Gatorade deciding to start a war with Mexico. That's what Hezbollah did. They were elected members of the Lebanese government and they have their own army and their own foreign policy. They want to start a war with Israel because they don't want a peaceful Middle East. A peaceful Middle East makes them and their goals irrelevant. A region in flames makes them more powerful. Same thing with Hamas. Hamas was elected in a fair and open election and then they alone have decided to initiate a war with Israel. Why? Because they want to make their rivals, Fatah and Abbas - the Palestinian Authority - irrelevant. Hezbollah wants the Lebanese government to fall so that they can replace it with an Islamic state. Same with Hamas. They was the PA to become the peacenik party arguing for peace with Israel while Hamas champions its "defense" of Palestinian people. It's a sick world but it's the only one we have.

There will be an end to this crisis and Hezbollah will still exist, although it might be severely weakened and pushed to the north away from Israel's border. Same with Hamas. Until the next time. And the next. Until the EU and France and basically everyone except the U.S. supports the idea that armed militias starting regional wars isn't a good idea then there will be a next time and the next. In the meantime, Israel will do what the rest of the world almost always fails to do when faced with this type of terrorist threat, they will do the heavy lifting. They will do the dirty work, like taking out Saddam's nuclear weapons reactor in 1981 which they were condemned for in the U.N. They will face and fight the evil on their doorstep because its on their doorstep and they don't the luxury of simply ignoring it.

People say Israel's response is disproportionate to the attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah but that's exactly what they wanted. They wanted a disproportionate response to achieve their goals of ending weak democracies in the Palestinian Territories and Lebanon and strenthening their own bloody, murdering hands.

So I'm going to go watch the disproportionate response up close and if anything happens to me, well then I'll really be cranky.

I don't hate Israelis, I just want them to comply with resolutions before I feel sorry for them. Some of the resolutions they're still in violation of are listed here: http://www.jatonyc.org/UNresolutions.html

So if there are no resolutions calling for militias to stop taking over governments, holding nations hostage, devoting themselves to die killing Israelis and their allies wherever they may be, whether children, women or civilians and all regardless of whether Israel complies with resolutions or not - then it's OK for Hamas And Hezbullah to keep killing and killing and killing and killing and killing and killing. It's been going on since 1948 and nothing has made a difference.

What nation in all of history has refused to defend its citizens from military attack? Every concession or return of land to the militants has been used for further attacks. Every one. Every last one. The occupied territories are occupied because it was territory belonging to an enemy defeated in war that the enemy started.

How can you ignore the fact that Hamas and Hezbullah are not asking for UN resolutions, they are asking for total death and destruction?

Aren't you aware that they consider UN resolutions invalid anyway?

It always staggers me. Hezbollah for no reason other than to kill Jews and try to provoke a reaction leaves Lebanon, enters Israel kills 6 soldiers and kidnaps 2 soldiers. Israel responds in an effort to remove the constant threat of rockets raining down on them and the reaction -"This in not a proportionate response."?
Are you f-ing kidding me?

What should have been the response - kill 6 and kidnap 2? Maybe when 9/11 happened we should have just leveled two buildings in Afghanistan - of course empty buildings so America isn't called a terrorist nation.

These are blood-thirsty terrorists who want to kill Jews around the world, destroy Israel and eliminate and moderate Arabs. They don't want a smaller Israel they want no Israel. People who defend Hezbollah and Hamas are merely useful idiots. They would kill you without hesitation. They get up in the morning thinking of ways to kill of ways to bomb embassies and shoot 747s out of the sky. They pass out candies and sweets and dance in the street when they kill Israelis. They are devoid of humanity. They have no mercy and they should receive none.

The choice is between Israel and murderous Islamic fanatics who would sacrifice everyone in Lebanon just to say they "beat" the Israelis. The Israelis have choosen to live rather than die and that is really what pisses you all off.

It was so much better 60 years ago - so much easier as far as the order of things when Jews were killed in the millions without them fighting back. Now they refuse to let it happen on a daily basis and the world says, "tsk, tsk." The hell with you all.

I'm proud that 60 years ago Jews were merely skin and bones dragging themselves out of death camps and now they fly F-16s. I wonder if all those who disagree with me, I'm guessing Americans, would you think the same way if Osama bin laden were in Canada killing our soldiers and kidnapping 2? Rocketing New York, Chicago and Seattle? Maybe the Israelis should have asked nicely for the people back. Maybe they should have just said we won't retaliate, go ahead kill us and kidnap our soldiers. Parade them in Tehran. They decided no, we think we'll fight back and try to destroy this threat on our border. I guess for all you who continually side with baby killers invading Israel to kill and kidnap and shoot rockets randomly into major cities there is no convincing you. You stay on the side of Islamic fanatics like Hamas, Hezbollah and al Qaeda. More room for the rest of us on the other side that's not simply pure evil trying to destroy the planet.
